Trend Report. F/W 2014

As promised! here is the Trend Report for fall/winter 2014. 

Como les prometí, acá esta el reporte de tendencias para el Otoño-invierno 2014.

I think we should first start talking about –Colours– this season is all about the muted tones, bone white, dusty pink, camel, burgundy, olive green, cerulean blue, taupe Gray and obviously black.  As you can see in most of the runways in the world, most of the collections mixed and matched this colours. Do you remember last one, everything was about pastels!, but i think it is safe so say that Red, purple, royal blue and forest green are always in. In my opinion deep and rich colours for winter will never go out of style. – I don’t need to say that Tartan, black and white, and mixing prints are in because that would be stating the obvious.

Creo que primero tenemos que empezar a hablar sobre –Colores– ésta temporada es todo sobre tonos tranquilos. Blanco hueso, rosa viejo, camel, borgoña, gris topo, azul cerúleo y obviamente negro. Como pueden ver en la mayoría de las pasarelas del mundo, muchas de las colecciones se basaron en mezclar todos estos colores. Se acuerdan de la temporada pasada cómo se usaron los pasteles? pero creo que es seguro decir que el rojo, purpura, azul marino y verde bosque siempre van a estar presentes. En mi opinión los colores profundos y ricos nunca pasan de moda.  No necesito decirles que el tartan, el blanco y el negro (juntos) y la mezcla de estampados es algo que no deja de estar presente porque sería decir algo obvio. 

One of the biggest trends has to be knee-high and over the knee boots. Awesome with dresses, skirts and shorts, they keep you warm and look fabulous. I love them.

Una de las tendencias más grandes tiene que ser el de las botas de caña alta y por arriba de la rodilla. Son geniales con vestidos, faldas y shorts, te mantienen abrigada y se ven fabulosas. Las amo.

Obviously the important thing during cold weather is to stay warm, but this season, to avoid looking like a giant walking potato, tons of designers brought back the thick belt around our coats to cinch the waist and keep that feminine shape, some even added a scarf as an extra layer for a cool dimension and detail. But if you are edgy and don’t mind to go outside your comfort zone, you can go with structured ones. Big, boxy, statement coats that will make any outfit look modern and interesting. 

Obviamente lo más importante durante los meses fríos es mantenernos abrigadas. Esta temporada, para evitar lucir como una papa gigante en movimiento muchos diseñadores trajeron de vuelta el cinturón al rededor de los abrigos para marcar la cintura y mantener la silueta femenina. Algunos inclusive agregaron pañuelos como una capa más para un accesorio que le da dimensión y detalle. 

Pero si no tienen problema en ir más allá y salir de su zona de confort, pueden optar por tapados estructurados. Grandes,  cuadrados e importantes, estos abrigos le van a dar un toque moderno e interesante a cualquier conjunto.   

In winter time, fur is -always- in. Faux obviously but still it will add luxury to every single thing. You can choose between Accents in fur, such as stoles, collars or scarves, or go on full and have big furry coats that will make you feel as glamorous as a 40’s Hollywood star.  

Para mí en invierno las pieles -siempre- estan de moda. Obviamente faldas pero igualmente van a darle a cualquier cosa un toque lujoso. Pueden elegir entre acentos en piel, como estolas, cuellos o bufandas. O ir con todo y usar tapados suaves y enormes que van a hacerlas sentir como una estrella de Hollywood de los 40’s. 

Sometimes it is hard to wear skirts in winter since it is freezing outside but nothing a pair of thighs won’t do! This season is either midi length, a revamp of the 30’s and 40’s with flats or kitten heels, though if you ask me, the higher the shoe the better! Or mini skirts, bringing back some 60’s sexiness  with A line skirts, blazers and jumpers.  The preppiness is all in for 2014. 

A veces es difícil usar faldas en invierno porque estamos congeladas pero nada que un buen par de medias no pueda solucionar! En esta temporada hay dos extremos. O un largo medio, modernizando la silueta de los 30’s y los 40’s, con zapatos planos y bajos (aunque si me preguntan para mí cuanto más alto el taco mejor!). O minifaldas, trayendo de vuelta algo de la sensualidad de los 60’s con cortes A, blazers y sweaters. Lo preppy está presente en este 2014.

Last but not least, it looks like suits are staying one more year. Great for layering and formal ocations. You can mix and match the parts, or wear them at once. Chic and simple with a fitted blazer and skinnies. You can wear a termal shirt and a blouse, and a coat on top. Or printed for a bold and fun look.

Ultimo pero no por eso menos importante, parece que los trajes nos van a acompañar un año más. Son geniales para meterle capas y ocaciones formales. Pueden usar las prendas por separado o al mismo tiempo. Un conjunto chic y simple con un blazer entallado y chupines, pueden ponerle una remera térmica abajo y luego una blusa y un tapado arriba de todo lo demás. O pueden optar por versiones más arriesgadas y divertidas y usar un traje estampado.
